The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has termed traumatic brain injury (TBI) the “silent epidemic.” Within this silent epidemic, there is a seemingly silent population; older adults with TBI. Finding age-appropriate care for the elderly patients with TBI is sparse. This presentation will begin the conversation about the importance of recognizing and managing the invisible injury, brain injury. We will also discuss the importance of brain injury prevention starting with fall prevention techniques.

At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Define the prevalence of brain injury and identify common causes and symptoms in the aging population
  2. Understand brain injury management techniques and fall prevention strategies
  3. Identify Nebraska TBI community-based brain injury supports for individuals with brain injury and their families

This webinar is appropriate for administrators, directors, nurses, social services workers, and direct care staff in nursing facilities and assisted living facilities.
