Mental health remains a topic that is not discussed as openly in our field as many other illnesses. Many residents have mental health diagnoses which can affect their nutrition status due to symptoms, but also due to the medications used to treat these illnesses. The goal of this presentation is to make mental health treatment in long-term care less daunting on the nutrition-core side.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Discuss the most common mental health diagnoses in long-term care, as well as their definitions and prevalence
- Consider the different nutrition challenges for residents with mental health diagnoses
- Explore options for nutrition interventions in this population

This program is appropriate for nurses, dietary, social services, and activities.
